Before you look forward to booking a Spring or Autumn stay at The Palms Villa with its new pool heating, here's the facts and myths about having a warm pool you need to know:

The easy bits to understand....

1 We offer pool heating only in the months it's needed, being March, April, early May*, late September*, October and November.

In early May* & late September*, it is only operational if night time temperatures are below 16 degrees.

Please do not ask for summer use - the water would stagnate.

2. The Warmed water is sourced from a heat pump that takes the water temperature up to a range of 23-27 degrees, depending on the prevailing weather/temperatures.

3. Without heating in the cooler months in Mallorca, a pool is unusable with water temperature no higher than 13 degrees, & possibly well below 7...about the same temperature as water from a fridge.

4. You must put the cover on a night. If you don't and it's chilly, the pool temp will be back to low teens by the morning and take all day to try and recover.

The myths.....

1. A heated pool is not a jacuzzi.

2. Jacuzzi's get to a 'steaming' temperature of 38 degrees, as they are the size of 3-4 Domestic baths (250 gallons) and are insulated and have a lid.

3. Our pool holds over 28,000 gallons. It's impossible to reach 38 degrees for obvious reasons.

4. It's a myth if you leave the pool cover off it will stay warm. The cover is your responsibility to apply nightly. If it's a cold night, with no cover the pool won't be warm enough use the next day.

5. Its a myth that a heated pool temperature won't drop below its average temperature through the daytime. If the weather is colder than normal, the water will lose some heat, even as the heater tries its best to build heat warmth back into the water. The average is a guide.

please note when you place a booking, there is a section in the T&C's that cover the above. â€‹
